The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family of two men who drowned on the Greek island of Crete.

The incident happened on Friday.

It is believed the two men had lived in north Dublin, but further details on their identities is not known as yet.

One report, in the Irish Mirror, says one of the men is believed to be in his early 40s and the pair are thought to be from Co Louth and north Dublin and living in Dublin.
