Landlord convicted for not registering tenants

The Private Residential Tenancies Board has secured two criminal convictions against a Landlord who failed to register his tenancies.

Kevin Galvin, of 81a Furry Park Road, Killester, Dublin 5, failed to register tenancies at Flat 4 and Flat 9 both at 116 Cabra Park, Cabra, Dublin 7.

The properties had been referred to Dublin City Council for inspection by the Department of Social Protection which had received an application for rent supplement payments to tenants at the addresses, and had a concern about the standard of the dwellings.

On review, it appeared that the tenancies were not registered and the matter was referred to the PRTB.

The Landlord failed to attend Court and was convicted in his absence.
