Sewer line under site to delay National Childrens Hospital

Building of the proposed new National Childrens Hospital in Dublin could be delayed again, due to a sewer running under the site.

According to the Irish Times a sewer serving Drimnagh and the south west of Dublin runs directly under the proposed new hospital.

Due to the size of the facility near St. James's, the pipe may have to be rerouted.

It is expected to cost €18m to move the system and is another setback to the project which was originally promised for 2016 but is likely to be completed three years late.
