SF election gains 'unprecedented', says Adams
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has today expressed his delight with the party's election performance.
Speaking in Belfast, the Louth TD said that while he remains hopeful regarding the European elections, the party's apparent gains at local level were "unprecedented".
"Well, we're in contention for all four European seats," he said.
"We mightn't win them all but we’re certainly in competition for them and whatever we do, we would use our mandate wisely.
"We would double our representation at local level across the 26 counties and that's quite unprecedented since partition."
