Railway route reopens three months after floods

The Ennis to Limerick railway line will reopen today after it was forced to close due to flooding earlier this year.

The line has been shut since February 2 due to extensive flooding in the Ballycar area, with water levels peaking at almost two metres above the rail line.

However, water levels have now receded and following a final inspection full services will resume today for Ennis to Limerick services.

Iarnród Éireann has also apologised to customers for the inconvenience during the closure period.
