Dublin estate residents protest 'unfair' management fees

Residents of a housing estate in Dublin are holding a day-long street protest over summonses to court for estate management fees.

Homeowners in Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15 were placed under a management company when the estate was built, with fees amounting to several hundred euro per year, despite Fingal Council maintaining the estate.

The residents are protesting over what they say are unjust fees with the conflict resulting in court appearances for a number of people on May 15.

Spokesperson for the residents Derek Murphy says the fees are extortionate.

"All that the homeowners are getting out of this is the upkeep of a parking space to the rear of their dwellings," Mr Murphy said.

"And they are being charged full management fees for this.

"They are extremely aggrieved over this, and they are aggrieved that the apartment holders, who ultimately are the management company, are suing their fellow neighbours."
