Jury clears man of murdering friend in Dublin flat
A man has been found not guilty of murdering his friend at a flat in Dublin, but guilty of impeding the prosecution.
Peter Gunn was found in a water-filled ditch near Dublin Airport after being stabbed in the heart in January 2009.
From the stand earlier this week, Alan Harte of Claireville Grove, Glasnevin admitted helping to get rid of Peter's body but denied killing him.
The remains of Mr Gunn, a 28-year-old father of two, were found 11 days after he was stabbed inside a flat in Cabra Park on Jan 4, 2009.
Alan Harte told the jurors he was innocent and accused his Albanian friend Kastriot Boza of killing him after being insulted by the victim earlier that night.
Mr Boza said the exact opposite and accused Mr Harte of stabbing Peter after he made some remarks about his uncle.
After just over two hours of deliberations today, the jury acquitted Mr Harte of murder but found him guilty of impeding the prosecution.
The jurors were allowed to consider that charge against the accused after he admitted knowing about the murder and helping to dispose of the body.
Harte has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced next month.
