The State has paid €115,000 in damages and court costs to Louise O'Keeffe on foot of a decision by the European Court of Human Rights.

The ECHR ruled in January that the Government failed to protect Ms O'Keeffe from sexual abuse she suffered as a schoolgirl in Cork in the 1970s.
