Fatal road accident kills 70-year-old in Donegal

A woman has died after she was struck by a car in county Donegal.

The incident happed at Churchtown in Carndonagh, shortly before 6pm yesterday evening.

The 70-year-old woman received serious head injuries and was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where she died shortly before midnight.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was not injured.

The area has been sealed off while forensic collision investigators carry out an examination.
