'Opportunistic' FF tried to enrol me, says SF TD
A Sinn Féin TD has rubbished speculation that he could be about to join Fianna Fáil.
Peadar Toibin who is currently serving a six-month suspension from the party says he has been approached by Fianna Fáil asking if he wants to join.
However, the Meath-East TD says he turned down the approach and has no interest in leaving Sinn Féin.
He has slammed Fianna Fáil for trying to hoover up politicians who have left other parties.
He said: "I also think it's a little bit opportunistic of Fianna Fáil to try and...mop up dissent from other political parties on these issues.
"I imagine also that the grassroots - the local structures - of Fianna Fáil throughout the State will be very dissatisfied that these discussions are happening over their heads."
