Detectives have arrested a woman after seizing illegal drugs believed to worth almost €500,000.

Detectives have arrested a woman after seizing illegal drugs believed to worth almost €500,000.

Cannabis plants, valued at €170,000, and cannabis herb, worth an estimated €300,000, were uncovered at a makeshift growhouse in Waterford.

Officers carried out a raid on the property at Coppinger Court in Powerscourt at around 4pm yesterday afternoon.

They arrested a woman in her 40s at the scene and took her to Tramore Garda station.

She is being questioned under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

The scene was sealed off for a technical examination.

The drugs haul has been sent for forensic analysis.
