Former Anglo secretary appears in court for revenue offences

Anglo Irish Bank's former Company Secretary and Head of Compliance has appeared in court charged with revenue offences.

Another former executive of Anglo Irish Bank has appeared in court charged with revenue offences.

Bernard Daly from Collins Avenue West in Whitehall was arrested just a week after a former colleague of his was brought before the courts.

H was charged with four offences under the Taxes Consolidation Act.

They include concealing a bank account from the Revenue and producing incorrect documentation over an eight-month period beginning in March 2003.

Mr Daly became Anglo's Company Secretary and Head of Compliance a month after the alleged offences took place and he retired three years later.

The 65-year-old replied "not guilty" when each of the four charges were put to him earlier today.

He was granted bail following a brief appearance before Dublin District Court and is due to appear in court again in February.

Tiernan O'Mahoney, Anglo's former Head of Treasury, was charged with similar offences last week and Mr Daly will now join those proceedings.
