Groups to protest maternity cuts outside Leinster House

Protesters calling for a reversal of cuts to maternity benefit say the Government is unfairly targeting working mothers.

A demonstration is planned for outside Leinster House today, with representatives of the National Women's Council and 'Action on X' among those expected to address protesters.

Under Budget 2014, more than €800 per year will be cut from maternity benefit to new mothers, while large families are to be hit with a child benefit cut of €120 a year for four or more children.
