Woman dies in Wicklow house fire

A post mortem is to be carried out on the body of a woman in her 40s who died in a house fire in Wicklow.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at the house in Monastery Grove shortly before 5am this morning.

Two children, aged 13 and 15, managed to escape the blaze. They are believed to be the woman's children, and were taken to hospital for treatment.

A technical examination of the scene is continuing.

The woman's body has now been moved to Loughlinstown Hospital.
