Court of Appeal referendum passed
The referendum on the court of appeal referendum passed easily, with more than 65% of the vote.
• YES: 795,008 (65.16%)
• NO: 425,047 (34.84%)
• Total poll: 1,240,135
• Spoilt: 20,080
• Valid poll: 1,220,055
Earlier, the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter welcomed the indications of a Yes vote, and said the court will be established in a year's time.
"Clearly, there will have to be individuals appointed to the court, and various arrangements made for its sitting … but it should be sitting by the start of the October law term in 2014," he said.
