IMO: Junior doctors to postpone planned strike

Planned strike action by junior doctors which was due to take place next Wednesday has been postponed, the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) has announced.
Talks have been ongoing between the union and the HSE at the Labour Relations Commission in a dispute over working hours for junior doctors.
The IMO says a proposal has been tabled which will now be considered by its members. In the meantime, the union has agreed to suspend its industrial action for one week.
However, the union warns that if the proposals are not acceptable strike action will proceed on October 2.
Junior doctors say the excessive hours which they are currently forced to work are in breach of an EU Directive of a 48-hour working week.
