A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car overnight in County Meath.

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car overnight in County Meath.

The man, who was in his 40s, was injured on Castle Street in Trim.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.

A second man, in his 20s, was also struck by the car and has been taken to the same hospital in Drogheda - his injuries are described as serious.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

This road is currently closed pending a forensic exam and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí.
