Elderly woman killed in Wexford house fire named
The woman killed in a house fire in Co Wexford has been named today as Philomena O’Rourke.
A girl aged nine also died after a blaze broke out at Ms O’Rourke’s home in Clohass, near Enniscorthy.
Post mortem examinations are due to be carried out today and forensic examinations at the scene are continuing.
The girl was staying in the house along with her mother and her mother’s partner.
The child’s mother and her partner were returning to the house from a night out when they discovered the fire, according to RTÉ.
The woman’s partner, a man in his 50s, tried to get in to the house, and was injured.
He is being treated in hospital in St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin.
