Electric Ireland follows Bord Gais lead with price increase

Electric Ireland has announced it is going to raise its gas prices by 2% from October 1.

It follows in the footsteps of Bord Gais who made the same announcement yesterday.

The increase will result in an average increase of 35 cent per week on the average residential gas bill, which comes to around €18 a year.

Electric Ireland said the increase is as a result of charges recently approved by the Commission for Energy Regulation, which it says are outside its control.
