Police investigate Belfast stabbing

Detectives in west Belfast are appealing for information following a stabbing incident in the Iveagh Drive area in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to the incident at around 3.30am when a 23-year-old man suffered a number of stab wounds to his head and body.

He was taken to hospital where he is described as being in a stable condition.

A 23-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grevious bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. A 26-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assault.

Both remain in police custody today.
