Teen arrested after car strikes Garda in Waterford

Gardaí in Waterford city are investigating an incident in which a Garda Sergeant was struck by a car and dragged along the bonnet for a short time.

It happened in the St Herblain Park at around 3pm yesterday afternoon.

The Garda sergeant was responding to a traffic accident when he was hit by an Audi car and carried on the bonnet for five to six metres up the road before being thrown off.

He sustained only minor injuries and an 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
