First water meters installed

The roll-out of water meters across the country has begun.

The first meters were installed in Maynooth, Co Kildare today.

Irish Water said that it hopes one million will be fitted by the end of 2016.

It is not yet known what the final cost of water charges will be for householders - and Fianna Fáil is calling for more transparency.
