Fatal road collision in Co Leitrim

A man has died following a fatal road traffic collision in County Leitrim.

The collision happened at approximately 1.05pm on the Drumshambo to Aughacashel road involving a pedestrian and a teleporter.

A 40-year--old male pedestrian was seriously injured. He was taken by helicopter to Sligo General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the teleporter was uninjured. It's believed the collision happened while the transporter was loading or unloading bales onto a trailer.

The road is closed to facilitate a forensic examination of the scene and local diversions are in place.
