Gardaí investigate firearm discovered following Dublin shooting

Tests are being carried out on a gun found in a burnt-out car following a gangland-style murder in Dublin yesterday.

27-year-old father of three Michael Kelly from the south inner city was shot dead along the red Luas line near the Grand Canal crossing in Kilmainham.

Gardai are appealing to passengers on two Luas trams which passed the scene at the time of the shooting at around 10.30am yesterday morning to contact them.

Garda spokesperson Superintendent David Taylor is also seeking information about the distinctive coloured getaway car found at nearby Rialto Court.

The metallic grey-and-lilac Opel Astra four-door saloon, with the registration number 99-LH-5711 has been removed for examination.
