Student hoping to become first Irish person in space

A Dublin student is hoping to become Ireland's first person in space.

Dublin City University student Sean Corcoran, from Finglas, is in London today for the Lynx Apollo Space Academy Challenge .

More than 200 people are taking part in this stage of the event, which will eventually lead to two people blasting off next year.

Sean said that he has no idea what's in store.

"The first test id going to be … it's like a fitness/endurance test on an inflatable assault course," he said.

"And then there's six more tests, and the last test is an interview, and that's all they've told us.

"So we don't really know how to prepare for it."
