A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with a serious attack in Rialto that left another man fighting for his life.

A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with a serious attack in Rialto that left another man fighting for his life.

Daniel Clarke, of Dolphins House, Dolphin Barn, was arrested shortly after the incident which took place in broad daylight two days ago.

This attack happened just before 6pm on Tuesday evening at the Luas stop on St. James’s Walk.

A man in his 20s was allegedly attacked with a glass bottle and suffered what Gardaí have described as a “vicious assault” after hitting the ground.

He was rushed to St. James’s Hospital where he remains in an induced coma and doctors have described his condition as “critical but stable”.

Clarke was refused bail following a number of Garda objections and has been remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday.
