Long-range weather forecaster Ken Ring predicts a warm August

A long-range weather forecaster from New Zealand said he expects another heat wave next month.

Ken Ring, who uses moon orbits to determine the weather, predicted this week's heat wave back in January.

He says the weather will break in the second half of July with some spells of rain, but the good weather will be back in the second half of August.

Speaking on a telephone interview with Radio Kerry, he outlined warm temperatures in August, with little rain.

"August is going to be fairly dry. I would expect only one or two rain days, but not a lot of sun. I think most sunshine in August for you comes in the third week, and in the last few days.

"By the time September comes, I think after the first week temperatures are going to get out of the 20s, they're going to get back into the sort of 18, 19 level.

"September, there's quite a bit of rain, but it's going to be gentle rain."

Mr Ring is the author of an annually-published book called The Ireland Weather Almanac, which makes long-range predictions on the country's forecast in January every year.
