Government confirms referendum plans on lowering of voting age

The government has confirmed plans to hold a referendum on lowering the voting age - but it will not be held for some time.

Ministers yesterday agreed to accept the recommendations of the Constitutional Convention to lower the voting age from 18 to 16.
