Ulster Bank has confirmed the branch closures announced during the week will not cause additional redundancies on top of those previously announced.

The bank is in the process of cutting 950 staff - most of whom have already been made redundant.

The Irish Bank Officials Association said that it held constructive meetings with Ulster Bank - during which management ruled out a further 1800 redundancies.
