Gardaí and Bord Gáis warn against meter tampering scam

Gardaí and Bord Gáis are warning people not to tamper with their gas meters.

They have uncovered a scam where people are having their meters bypassed so that the gas they are using is not being recorded.

They have said that tampering with a meter is illegal and puts them and their neighbours at risk of a gas leak and potential explosion.

A man in his 30's has been arrested in Kilmainham in Dublin as part of their investigation and Gardaí said that over 200 houses have had their meters changed.
