Last day for students to change mind about CAO choices

It is D-Day for Leaving Cert students who want to change their mind about their CAO forms.

By 5.15pm this evening applications will close for anyone trying to choose a different range of third-level courses.

Up to 30% of pupils are reported to use the opportunity.

Joanne Holland, Careers Officer at Limerick Institute of Technology has this advice for students: "In order to stick four years of third-level education, it has to be something that genuinely interests you.

"So if you are a little bit torn, perhaps look at courses where you can mix disciplines, programmes where you can do business mixed with a humanities or an IT subject.

"And then you're satisfying both sides of the coin, you are following something that interests you and maybe being practical about it at the same time."
