Dublin by-pass plan 'way down the priority list' says Varadkar
The Transport Minister has said that plans for a massive by-pass of Dublin through the midlands and Leinster is now way down the agenda.
The idea of an orbital bypass was first raised at the height of the boom to take pressure off the Capital.
However Leo Varadkar has told the Dáil there is no money there for it.
"That was a big idea in the past to put a motorway through Leinster and allow people to bypass all of Dublin," he said.
"It would be horrendously expensive we are talking billions of Euros so it's way down the priority list
"There are so many other public transport projects and regional road projects and the need to improve road access into the north-west and the west that I think would take priority over a new motorway around Dublin."
