Third Fine Gael TD refuses to support abortion legislation

A third Fine Gael TD has stated that he will not support the Government's Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill.

Wicklow TD Billy Timmins cited the inclusion of suicidal threat as a basis for a termination, as the main reason he will not back it.

Deputy Timmons said he was worried by the opposition of medical specialists to this aspect of the bill.

Two more Fine Gael TDs, Brian Walsh and Peter Mathews have already said they are opposed to the legislation.

The debate on the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill 2013 is continuing in the Dáil.
