One arrest in connection with suspect Coolock device

A man has been arrested in Dublin in connection with ongoing investigations into criminal activity.

At 6pm yesterday evening the 18-year-old was detained by gardaí when he was stopped and searched in Ferrycarrig Park, Coolock and found to be carrying what is believed to be an explosive device.

The immediate area was evacuated for a time.

The object has since been handed over to explosive experts for further examination.
