A former Fianna Fáil Senator has been sent forward for trial on charges of extortion and demanding money by menaces.

A former Fianna Fáil Senator has been sent forward for trial on charges of extortion and demanding money by menaces.

70-year-old Francis O'Brien appeared before Carrickmacross District Court in Co Monaghan earlier charged with demanding €100,000 from Michael Heelan with menaces at Tullyvaragh Lower, Carrickmacross on April 27th 2012.
