Senior garda being investigated for fraud
A senior garda is reportedly at the centre of a criminal investigation for his alleged role in quashing penalty points.
It is understood that he is being investigated for fraud by doing the State out of money, after wiping points without a good reason.
The case began last June, but details have only emerged now.
It comes in the wake of an internal report on the penalty points scandal, which shows some gardaí improperly terminated fixed-charged notices, but did not deem the actions corrupt.
