Shots fired at former County Councillor as he drove from home

A number of shots were fired at former Offaly County Councillor Ger Killally as he was driving from his home this morning.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, which happened in Shean, Edenderry, Co Offaly, just before 11am.

Officers say the shots were fired from a silver Astra saloon car with an 06-D reg.

The man who was shot at, who is believed to be in his 40s, then drove a short distance away, where he drove into a ditch and overturned his car.

He sustained minor injuries, as did his three passengers, as a result of the crash.
