Two women and a man have been arrested over a spate of robberies.

Gardaí detained the trio during a planned operation in Blanchardstown, west Dublin.

They are being questioned about the robberies of three shops in the area over the past two weeks.

Shopkeepers were threatened with knives during the incidents.

Investigating gardaí stopped a car on the Grange Road at around 10pm last night and arrested the three.

The man and one of the women are in their 20s while the second woman is in her late 30s.

They are being held under section four of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown Garda station.
