Report: Colorectal cancer second most common in men, third in women

Colorectal cancer is now the second most common cancer in Irish men and the third most common in women.

Colorectal cancer is now the second most common cancer in Irish men and the third most common in women.

New figures from the national cancer registry show it made up 11% of all cancers in women and 14% in men in the two year period 2007-2009.

Between 1994 and 2010, the number of colorectal cancer cases increased by 2.1% annually.

Survival rates are in line with the European average and have improved significantly.
