A man has appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court, charged with possession of a double-barrel sawn-off shotgun.

A man has appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court, charged with possession of a double-barrel sawn-off shotgun.

Emmett Curley, of Rinneanna View, Shannon, Co Clare, is alleged to have had the gun as he boarded a bus at Colbert rail station in Limerick, last Thursday.

The court was told he made no reply to gardaí when he was formally charged.

Mr Curley was granted bail, on condition that he reside at his home address, and obey a curfew.

He is due in court again on May 22.
