Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash in Co. Waterford in which a man in his fifties died.

The single vehicle collision happened at about 8.45am near Lismore.

Today's fatality comes as the Minister for Transport, Leo Varadkar, warns that road death numbers are far higher than in 2012.

So far, 32 people have lost their lives compared to 23 this time last year.
