Fiona Doyle encourages rape victims to 'come forward'

Fiona Doyle has told the Taoiseach she hopes that minimum sentences for rape and assault will be introduced.

Her father, Patrick O'Brien of Old Court Avenue in Bray was jailed last week, after initially being freed by Judge Paul Carney.

Ms Doyle said she also would like to see younger Judges who are properly trained in dealing with rape and assault cases.

She said Enda Kenny listened to her concerns and said he would take them on board.

And she encouraged other rape victims to come forward: “I feel it was worth it. I feel like I want to encourage women not to look at my case and back off. Come forward, because it does make a difference and it is all part of the healing.”
