Meath: Supporters plan march in support of Old Darnley Lodge staff
Supporters will take to the streets today in support of staff at Meath's Old Darnley Lodge Hotel, after a 10-day sit-in by staff.
The hotel was closed last week with one hour's notice.
Representatives from SIPTU said the closure was unexpected and that no contact by management had been made with staff since.
Martin Mannion of SIPTU said the situation was "pretty grim" for staff.
"The employer has walked away and has not paid any redundancy. We've tried a number of times to contact (the owner) and he won't deal with us," he said.
"We believe an accountant has been put in place by the company who is looking to liquidate the company."
A facebook page set up to collect messages of support and updates on the site-in has attracted more than 1,329 likes to date, while a 'Save the Old Darnley Lodge' page has almost 2,400 likes.
Today's march takes place at 1pm at the hotel in Athboy, Co Meath.
