Government set to regulate charities

Justice Minister Alan Shatter has today announced plans to regulate charities.

The aim of the Charities Act is to support public confidence and trust in the sector by introducing statutory regulation and increasing transparency and accountability.

Minister Shatter has called on anyone with an interest in the charities sector to take part in this consultation.

ICTR, the representative body for Irish charities, has welcomed the news.
