Teenager found dead in Monaghan flat named

The teenager who was found dead in a flat in Co Monaghan yesterday has been named locally as Jason Mc Govern from Tydavnet.

The 19 year old's body was discovered at a flat in Emyvale.

Gardaí and the PSNI are investigating the possibility that he may have been the victim of a vicious assault.

A post mortem is being carried out today on the body of the student.

It is understood Jason was attacked as he and his friends made their way back to a minibus after a night out in Omagh on Sunday and that he had complained of headaches before he went to bed.

Gardaí say they are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death and will await the results of the post mortem before deciding what course of action to take.

The PSNI says it is believed Jason had been the victim of an alleged assault in the Kelvin Road area of Omagh in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It is understood officers are looking for a man in relation to the assault – he is described as being of stocky build with red or blonde hair.
