Mums and dads across the country have been welcoming the first babies of 2013.

In Cork Christine Casey from Carrigtwohill gave birth to her little girl Lexi at 12:03, while the first Dublin baby of the New Year was born at the National Maternity Hospital on Holles Street - the little girl arrived at just 12 minutes past midnight.
