Jury convicts Chinese woman of sexually assaulting two girls
A Chinese woman has been convicted of sexually assaulting two twelve year old girls at a Dublin cinema.
Yan Ching - of Killery Terrace, Upper Dargle Road, Bray - was found to have touched the girls legs and her own private parts at the IMC cinema, The Square, Tallaght in October.
Yan Ching struck up a conversation with the two girls in the otherise empty cinema ahead of a screening of a horror film.
The 42-year-old asked them if she was in the right seat, told the girls they were beautiful and took a photo of them against their will.
She rejected the girls' evidence that she touched her own private parts, but admits touching their legs, claiming it was her way of crossing the language barrier.
CCTV footage from the IMC cinema shows the 12-year-olds running from the cinema.
One girl gave evidence that she felt uncomfortable and violated afterwards.
Judge Anthony Halpin has found the sexual assaults were at the lower end and has imposed a three-month jail sentence backdated to October when Yan Ching went into custody.
