PSNI defends re-hiring officers

The man in charge of police recruitment in Northern Ireland today defended the rehiring of former officers but admitted the renewed dissident threat had helped delay full civilianisation of the force.

The PSNI has faced criticism for a “revolving door policy” offering lucrative payoffs to senior staff then re-employing some within days on temporary contracts.
