One of the biggest hotels in the country has been assigned an interim examiner, after amassing debts to Nama of €47m.

One of the biggest hotels in the country has been assigned an interim examiner, after amassing debts to Nama of €47m.

The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Co. Wicklow, situated in the Powerscourt estate, was built by developers Johnny Ronan and Richard Barrett for €200m.

The five-star luxury venue has hosted celebrity weddings in the past, including that of footballer Robbie Keane and his wife Claudine.

It is thought to have been making a loss since it was built in 2007.
