Third-level students with intellectual disabilities are to be given the opportunity to learn in the same space as the general student population.

The Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, will launch a new Integrated Education Programme at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown today.

The programme has been designed to enable students with intellectual disabilities to access third-level education and gain a qualification.

Dr Mary Meaney, President of the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, said the programme is only available to small amount of students at the moment.
